So...it's been about a month since my last post. Sorry. For some weird reason I've been feeling really tired all the time and spend most of my free time sleeping...weird right?
But yesterday was a ton of fun so I had to share. We spent the afternoon being shown around a local Air Force Base by our new neighbors (he is in the Air Force Reserves and works on-base). It was AWESOME. We walked around the parade grounds and got to see two dozen de-commissioned military airplanes...
...but got a little angry when none of the doors would open....
...I thought the little pictures and names on the plane were pretty funny. I especially connected with this one:
And Terry connected with this one oddly enough...just kidding. He was more impressed by the number of successful bombing missions - do you see all of the little bombs they painted on the side of the plane? Deadly.
Terry picked the SR-71 Blackbird as the backdrop for a family picture - he had a model of this plane growing up - so here are the 4 of us. 22 more days!
We drove around the base, visited the Base Exchange, saw some of the on-base housing and schools, and even saw the Commissary. Talk about a self-contained little world!
Our last stop was to see some of the BIG C-5 cargo planes, which was my favorite part. I'm seriously impressed those whales can fly. And after checking to make sure the fence was not electric, the Shrimp got to run back and forth in front of it and shake it, the entire time screaming "AIRPANE! AIRPANE! AIRPANE!" These fly over our house every once in awhile so it was a blast to see them close up. They already look huge in the sky but on the ground they're even bigger!
To finish off the evening we invited everyone over for some crepes in honor of Bastille Day (which was on Saturday). For the record - the best crepe filling you will ever eat in your entire life is a little butter, a little sugar, and a squirt of fresh lemon juice. Trust me. You don't need to fill it like you're at a Vegas buffet. Simple is best.
