My guy will be 20 months old at the end of this week and once again I am in shock. He is getting SO BIG - not just physically (ok not really physically) but mentally, socially, and emotionally. He is super independent.
- He would prefer not to drink out of a sippy cup but rather a big boy cup. We have some IKEA kids cups that we give him and he does surprisingly well.
- When we climb up the stairs he says "up we go" with each step. On the way back down he says "down we go".
- When he needs help with something he runs over and says "help you!"
- He is obsessed with our new dishwasher and every morning before breakfast he will run over and hit it and yell "WASHER".
- He can count to 10 but always. ALWAYS. skips the number 6. Sorry 6. 10 is also always followed by Shrimp yelling "BLAST OFF!"
He cut 6 teeth in the past 2 weeks; 4 molars and two incisors on the bottom (definitely had to look that up). He has been an absolute joy (aka holy terror). I am seriously so happy that it's over. When he stands up in places he knows he's not supposed to (shopping cart seats, the bathtub, on the stairs, on the couch) he will yell "GET DOWN!" while he's standing up. Funny kid.
He loves puppies, airplanes, popsicles, the pool, elephants, grammy rolls, birdies, and H-E-B. Especially H-E-B. For those of you who have never been to Texas, it's our grocery store. Basically the only one. They just opened a really nice location close to our house and Shrimp always asks to go there. From the time we pull into the parking lot until we leave he will yell "H-E-B!!" at the top of his lungs nonstop. Non. stop. I have no idea why he is so obsessed but it is really cute. We definitely get a lot of smiles and comments.
He is so much fun to shop with. He does play with items on the shelves but whenever I ask him to follow me he will! I'm hoping he never realizes that turning and running the other way is always an option. He also loves to put items in the cart. It is now a ritual to hand the lighter items to him so he can throw them over his shoulder and into the basket.
Any ultrasound picture is his "Buddy" and when we ask him where Buddy is he will come over and pat my belly. Sometimes he pats my boobs and then I feel like a million bucks because clearly they are pretty big if he gets them confused with my stomach. It's the little things in life, ya know?
We had a lesson on tithing last night for Family Home Evening. We were trying to explain the idea of 10% to the Shrimp with 10 grapes. 9 grapes for the Shrimp, 1 grape for the Lord. Obviously we didn't expect him to fully understand the concept but he was determined to eat that tenth grape. It ended with Mommy eating the grape so he would stop crying. I don't really know what the message of THAT was but I'm hoping he doesn't think about it too much...
