fire station visit

We are so lucky to have such a great group of friends here in Texas. One Mom set up a visit to the local  Fire Station and invited everyone to come, and can I just say, we were an impressive group. Probably close to 20 moms and their offspring (and my friends are very fertile. so. there were a lot of kids).

So we knew about 2 weeks in advance about the field trip and I wish I hadn't told Parker. RULE #1 - NEVER TELL A TODDLER ABOUT A DISTANT FUTURE EVENT IN ADVANCE. Seriously, why can I not remember that?? He talked about it everyday until we actually went, which is cute and I loved it, but I really didn't appreciate the ensuing tantrums when I told him that 'today wasn't the day'. We survived. But the best part? When we arrived at the fire house, he didn't want to get on the truck, he didn't want to go near the firemen, he only wanted to run around the back parking lot. This kid. I was finally able to lure him into the truck by climbing aboard myself (props to my child for being difficult to lure).
Then I was able to lure him onto the back of the truck when his Partner in Crime was hanging out back there. These two are hilarious. They held hands during the fire safety presentation - I was just impressed that they stood still for that long. The messes these two make together are epic, and not in a good way.
This smile just kills me. Photo proof that he is sweet. I'm so glad I have this so 20 years from now I won't remember the terrible tantrums, just the cute smiles. Photo proof will be necessary because at the rate I'm losing brain cells I might not have a memory in 20 years.
